Hoy os traigo un vídeo antiguo de una actividad que, en principio tiene poco que ver con el inglés. Estábamos en los días finales del curso 2001-2 y Venancio me invitó a participar con él y Mª Paz Fernández en una actividad que iban a hacer con el alumnado de sus tutorias de primero de ESO.

Durante los dias 17 y 18 de Junio de 2002, tuvieron la oportunidad de participar en unas jornadas de convivencia  en un paraje increible: la Selva de Irati. Este video quiere servir de recuerdo de esos inolvidables momentos.

On February 18 and 19, in 1997, we had at Ibaialde two amazing parties to award the winners in the V Literary Contest organized by the English Department.

That year, due to the big number of contestants who had participated, we had to celebrate two different parties, one for ESO and other for Bachiller and COU students. Gema Sanchez and Laura Suescun presented ESO Party and then Eva Villorejo and Ian Barber Bachiller Party.

IV English Tea Party (1996)

Today I want to tell you about an activity we used to have at Ibaialde and, who knows?, we might recover in the future. Every year, once the deadline to hand in the compositions for the Literary Contest was over, we organized a Party to celebrate the winners. But it was much more than just a party, don’t you believe me? Watch this video of the IV Tea Party.

On Thursday 15, February 1996, due to the large number of participants willing to attend the IV English Tea Party we had two different ones at Ibaialde to celebrate the Literary Contest and give their well deserved awards to all the winners.

First, at 16.00, we had a Party for all ESO students, and then two hours later another for Bachiller and COU students.

But it was much more than just literary winners; there were all kind of contests and prizes for many of the contestants, a chance to meet teachers and students in a different setting and realize that we could have fun. Here you are a complete account of what happened.

Ibaialde-Hungen (1997): School Exchange

rgettable memories in dozens of students’ minds: the Exchange with Hungen in Germany.

It all started when Mr. Lothar Gebauer, a German teacher from Hungen, visited us and, after his one week stay with us, put us in contact with Mr. Dieter Hausotter, Head of the English Department in Gesamtschule-Hungen. Soon dozens of students were writing letters, it was the time before emails, and it all developed into the first school’s exchange.
Venancio and Javier, accompanied by 27 students from the last two years in ESO parted to Germany on June 17, 1997. Then, in September, Mr. Hausotter and Mrs. Meyer came to Burlada with a good bunch of their students.

I want to thank Juantxo Pagola for all his help in the making of this video. We decided to title it “Making Friends” and I guess you will understand why when you watch it.

Ibaialde News (1992-2007)

A few weeks ago, and before returning to school after my two years absence, I decided to make an effort and upload to the blog all the issues previously printed of Ibaialde News. What at first seemed a good idea, then has taken me much more time that I had ever thought, although it has given me some very nice moments.

Soon I discovered that I didn’t have copies of all the magazines published over the years, there were three missing: numbers 1, 2 and 9. Then I tried to contact some of the people who were in the “staff” when we published then, and it has been really nice to learn about what they are doing, and how they enjoyed that experience.  Finally I managed to have a copy of all of then and I have decided to join all of them in a pdf file, 400 pages long, and offer it to all those who want to learn a little bit about our school, or just remember about “the good old days“. If you want to read just one single issue, and not the whole lot, you can do it here, and you can also download single copies.

I really encourage you to spend some time going through all these pages. Here you will find photos and articles about many of your past teachers, colleagues and activities you participated in at the school: trips, exchanges, Literary Contest and Farewell parties, …

I hope you have at least one tenth of the good time I have had when preparing this resource.
